With a promising start to the competition this year Angola definitely have some players’ to look out for. In my opinion there are three main men who you should keep an eye on during the competition. My three players are Manucho, Andre Macanga and Mateus. Let’s have a look at each player in turn:
Manucho
Angola’s main man so far in this competition with three of their four goals currently from the opening two matches. He is setting an example for his teammates to step up their game to have a chance …

Match day 2 saw two teams who had encountered different fortunes in their opening group game. Sudan lost by a solitary goal to the Ivory Coast and Angola beat Burkina Faso 2-1. The game was finally poised as both teams wanted to press on in the group.
Opening exchanges were fairly predictable, both teams happy to play it around and get a touch of the ball. Five minutes in though and Manucho was quick to nick the ball off a Sudan defender. He pressed forward into the box to bury the …

With the other match in group B far from a stand out performance, both these teams had the chance to show what they were all about.
The first half was subdued and I thought both teams were too tentative and tactical, no one was really having a go. As neither of these teams are favourite for the group I wasn’t surprised at 0-0 when it was half time. I got the impression that neither side wanted to leave with nothing.
Angola posed a bigger threat but even they were fairly subdued in …

With the Africa Cup of Nations on the horizon this is a tournament preview for the Angolan national team. Now, Angola has been an African side with little to cheer in this competition and often struggle to get out of the group. They burst onto the worldwide scene in 2006 when they qualified for the World Cup in Germany which was remarkable as they hadn’t long ended a civil war in the country. Angola’s progress as a team has been steady but improvement is definitely there. However, they …

Undefeated Angola should go into their quarter final with Ghana with confidence following recent performances.

The Angolan’s finished in top spot in Group A courtesy of a 4-4 draw with Mali, a 2-0 victory over Malawi and o-o draw with Algeria and can approach the match with realistic hopes of progression to the semi-finals for the first time ever.
Tournament top scorer and talisman Flavio has been passed fit to play for Angola but big doubts remain over winger Gilberto, who was injured during training. Despite this it is the Stadium in …

Angola look to continued their winning form and qualify for their second successive knockout round as they take on their biggest threat Algeria.
Form
Angola have had a partly successful start to the season campaign with a 4-4 and a 2-0 on their belt but they will be looking to at least take a point from the Algerians tonight to confirm their knockout round security. Likewise, Algeria will also be looking to take the points tonight after a shock loss and one win placing them third in the group A table.

Angola look to come back from their miraculous draw in the opening game of the ACN against Mali
Form
Angola were looking to start their African Cup Of Nations campaign with a win and their ideal outcome was likely to happen as the Black Antelopes were four goals ahead of Mali, but for sensational comeback from The Eagles. Stephen Keshi’s men came back from four goals to earn a vital point. Malawi’s campaign meanwhile, started in a total different direction with an unexpected three points at the expense of Algeria.

Angola tonight have made up for throwing away a four-goal lead against Mali in their opening game by beating Malawi 2-0 to move top of Group A .
Two goals early in the second half from strikers Flavio and Manucho settled the game and brought the whole three points the hosts way. Flavio scored his third of the campaign with a trademark header from a cross from left back Mabina then Manucho later doubled the lead by stripping the Malawi captain Peter Mponda of the ball on the edge of the …

Mali came from four goals down to earn a sensational draw with the hosts in the opening game of the African Nations Cup, on Sunday. Despite being ahead for seventy nine minutes, Angola let a four goal lead drop in the final third of the game.
Manuel Jose’s men went ahead in the thirty seventh minute when a diving header from the Saudi Arabian based striker Flavio Amado hit the back of the net. Shortly afterwards, he doubled the hosts advantage with another flying header from defender Mabina’s excellent cross.
After a …

Like the home shirt, Angola’s African Cup Of Nations away shirt is unlike any other before it. The Black Antelope’s new away shirt has a retro three colour strip across its yellow centre. The Dominantly yellow shirt, which features both metallic and regular yellow material, is to be manufactured by Puma.  In addition, the away shirt also features an engineered mesh system which offers greater ventilation to improve the players performance and reduce sweat. The shirt also features two Puma logos on the arms with small red rings at the …
